Sustainable living
Sustainable living in Canada has been made more affordable with Eco Grants. The office of Energy Efficiency of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is offering residents of single family homes including semi detached and owners of low rise residential apartments these grants to retrofit their homes in more environmentally efficient ways. Your out of pocket expense will be hiring one of the designated (NRCan) energy experts to come to you home and make an assessment of your upgraded energy needs. However, some programs are in place to help with the cost of the assessment. To find an expert in the

These eco grants are one of the first steps that make ecologically sensitive living in Canada a viable option for many Canadian home owners. For example the price of an installed energy recovery ventilation or
heat recovery ventilation system
starts at approximately $2,600- $4000 (integrated with an existing ducted heating or cooling system, which are ventilations systems found in most homes). The Eco grants are provided at $5,000 per house hold, but if you have several properties you are eligible for up to $500,000. Why are these retrofits important at all? Of course, helping to decrease green house gas emissions is great for the environment, and using less energy in your home is a first step. Another very important reason is the value of your home. As the real estate market becomes even more competitive, homes that are fit with sustainable energy efficient products have an advertising edge over other homes. You can get top dollar for being aware of this advantage. If you have additional questions regarding
