Condo Decor

Condo decor is designed to make your condominium look modern and fresh, while hiding its functional and practical side. Real estate prices for a single family home have sky rocketed to such heights that they are beyond the reach of many first time home buyers.

In the Toronto make the average home price is around $422,000 for a single family detached home.

Consequently for the first time, new home owners are having to look to condo living, and are realizing that decorating this new space is different than a traditional detached home like their parents.

Condor Decor Paint

Today when you think of paints for your new space, consider ecologically sensitive paint products, even before you think of colour.

Living in a healthy space, and making certain your living environment is toxic free can be vital to your continued well being.

When it comes to paint, often, because condominiums tend to be smaller spaces, colors should allow for a sense of spaciousness and airiness.

Of course, white and beige are the colours of choice that open up a space.

Yet don’t be afraid of colour, on maybe a single wall that pulls the eyes into the room, and gives it a sense of depth. Pick your favourite colour for that wall or a particular room that you feel you must have it in.

However, remember that strong colours will make a condo look small and oppressive, and just will not work they same way they do in a house.

Condo Decor furniture

Most people tend to live in condos for three to five years, but because of the expensive home prices, many people will be living in them for life.

The only thing that will likely change, is moving from a small 500 square feet unit to a larger 1000 square feet unit.

House furniture doesn’t work well in condo spaces.

If any of you have walked into a condo with large bulky chairs, tables, etc, you will soon realize that the occupants brought the furniture from a house to a condo, because it just feels cramped.

Furniture for a condo is smaller and lower to the ground to fit the space, when compared to traditional house furniture.

Plan before you buy, especially because you are working with a smaller condo space, which is not a problem or much of a consideration in a 2200 square foot home. You can find some great pieces of furniture designed with condos in mine in many of the furniture stores in down town Toronto, and in the larger furniture stores in the greater Toronto area.

Condo Decor Space.

You will want to keep you condo feeling airy and spacious not only with paint and furniture, but also the living space.

If you can it is better to purchase a condo that has an open concept design.

If you already own a condo, you will have to get permission from the condominium board of directors to see if you can tear down a wall to open up the space.

Most of this information should be in your condominium documents, particularly the declaration.

If tearing down a wall isn’t practical, then de-clutter your space. Look around to see what you can be recycled, put in storage, or give away. Selling them on craigslist or eBay can bring you in some money quickly.

Also wall unit organizers, under the bed organizers, and home entertainment organizers all go a long way in hiding things that make the place feel small and gloomy. Having the special things you picked up in your travels or wedding memories is better on a single wall instead of all over your space.

Condo living was once a choice, but in more and more cities it is the reality of home ownership, yet once you have considered how to decorate your surroundings and chosen the best condo decor options you can, you will likely come to find the condo life style a pleasant alternative to the traditional single family home.
