Green industry jobs
The creation of thousands of green industry jobs could result from Ontario’s proposed Green Energy Act. During 2008, none of us can forget paying $1.37 or higher a litre for gas, if you live in Canada or over $4.00 a gallon gas, if you live in the United States. Despite the fact that gas prices have come down dramatically to levels as low as 66.5 cents a litre in Canada, nobody is willing to live with paying such high prices in the future. High energy prices were a rude awakening to everyone, and our politicians are taking swift action. With the proposal working its way through Queens Park the promise of green energy jobs could not come at such a critical time during the economic crisis of 2009. Green Industry Job CreationFor many, the potential creation of these new jobs are truly green dream jobs. These green jobs are coming at the right time when traditional manufacturing jobs are disappearing every second of the day. Recently it was reported that sales of General Motors automobiles were down 56% and there is even talk of pulling the automaker out of Canada entirely. Thousands of jobs have already been cut, and the future is not looking good for the big three car makers in North America. Green industry jobs will be the answer for thousands of people that are out of work, because of obsolete energy burning technology. President Brack Obama has made it clear that he supports policy ideas for green jobs. His strong stance on green technology and innovation is a rallying cry for environmental supporters worldwide. Green Energy ActHere at home in Canada, environmentalists, First Nations people, manufactures, developers, farmers, and other sustainable advocates are campaigning for the creation of the Green Energy Act. The Act could create as many as 50,000 jobs. These jobs include the creation of an electricity grid, the implementation of renewable energy sources such as wind energy, and the use of community energy sources.
